Violent Shoplifting Suspect Pleads Not Guilty

An EKU football player, charged in a shoplifting case, made his first court appearance on Monday morning.

Police say 22-year-old Davin Walker shoplifted from the Richmond Wal-Mart on Thursday. As he was leaving, police say he pushed a 69-year-old woman into a shopping cart.

The incident caused the woman to lose part of her thumb.

Walker had a not guilty plea entered on his behalf at Monday's hearing. He's charged with robbery and fleeing and evading.

The judge also set Walker's bond at ten percent of $200,000, paid in cash.

He is still being held at the Madison County Detention Center.

Walker will return to court on July 16th for a preliminary hearing.
