The Woodford County Planning Commission has approved a proposal for a new 150 acre development.

The mixed-use development would go in the northwest part of Midway, in the I-64/Kentucky 341 corridor.

According to the Herald Leader, it would feature nearly 600 residential units, a hotel, winery and walking trails.

The Midway City Council will have the final say. There's no word on when they'll vote on the proposal.

I grew up in Midway and am saddened by this news. Soon it'll be nothing more than a town that looks like every other town--there will be no small town feel left. I'm sick and tired of farm land being turned into McMansions! It already seems that people complain that everything is too far away from Midway--next thing you know there will be a McDonald's on Railroad Street! It makes me SICK.

I live in this community and for the council not to reconize that we as a community need business' that create jobs is ridiculous we do not need more residences - yes Midway is a great place to live but all of us have to go else where to work, dine, grocery shop, etc... the council is just not understanding that people are going to start leaving due to that, business' need to be brought in!!!!!
