Lexington high school student competing in Jeopardy! Teen Tournament

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - A 16-year-old Lexington girl has been selected as a contestant in the Jeopardy! Teen Tournament.

Tates Creek High School student Erin Christopher is flying to Los Angeles for show tapings next week.

Erin says she's wanted to compete on Jeopardy! for a long time.

"Before I found out about the online test, it wasn't really something I thought of," Erin said. "But then I found out about the online test and I thought, 'I've done academic team before. Why not try this?' So I tried it out a few years ago, and I didn't get it. But this year I did it, and I got it."

The Jeopardy! Teen Tournament won't air until July. The winner will receive $75,000.

Jeopardy! airs Monday through Saturday nights at 7:30 on WKYT.
