LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) - A psychologist says a man charged with
killing his children and attacking his wife in Louisville shows signs of schizophrenia.
Dr. Wayne Herner says Said Biyad also performed poorly on a mental competency test, with a score just above what's considered
mentally retarded. Herner says he's not competent to stand trial for the killings of his four children in 2006.
Biyad, an immigrant from Somalia, is also charged with attempted murder, rape and assault for an alleged attack on his wife.
Prosecutor Carol Cobb argued in court Monday that a language
barrier could be making it difficult to assess Biyad's intelligence.
Another psychologist in March deemed Biyad fit to stand trial. A date for further hearings on Biyad's competency has not been set.
