Blood Donation Age Limit Changes Tuesday

Starting Tuesday, turning 16 comes with another privilege for people in Kentucky.

A new law has cleared the way for 16-year-olds to donate blood with parental consent. Right now, the age limit is 17.

Officials with the Kentucky Blood Center say that one year will make a big difference. In fact, they anticipate a 30 percent jump in donations at high school blood drives.

In order to donate, teens also have to weigh 100 pounds, have a photo ID and be in good health.
