Four months after six vehicles at a Richmond car lot were destroyed by fire, police have made an arrest in the case.

19-year-old Justin Ryan Hyatt stands charged with 1st Degree Criminal Mischief.

Police say Hyatt drilled holes in several vehicles at Valentine Honda on the bypass in Richmond, trying to steal gas. The drilling sparked a fire and six new Honda Pilot SUVs burned up.

The damage was estimated at more than 230 thousand dollars.

Hyatt was arrested on Tuesday and is being held in the Madison County Detention Center. If convicted, he could face up to five years behind bars.

I am sure he understands and now that they have caught him young he will learn. You can't blame the family, they didnt raise him like that im sure....what mother and father would??? all you can do is hope he learns from his mistakes. we all make them.

I am sure the young man knew what he was doing was illegal. He needs to be locked up now, while he is young or we will be dealing with another career criminal. Rehabilitate him while there is still a chance. You cant blame parents for everyones mistakes. Unless he is mentally imcapable, i am sure he knew this wrong and he would pay the consequences if caught.

Heck, 6 months ago gas wasn't all that bad (3 bucks sounds like a bargain compared to now), and he was going as far as to drill gas tanks to steal gas? My goodness, this kid is 19 and already on the path to being a career criminal. If he went this far on his first theft-spree, then unless there's some BIG outside intervention, he should look forward to a lifetime of being in and out of jail.

I knew this was coming. High gas prices are gonna start trends like this! They should make him work to pay off every penny of that $230,000. That would teach him!

I want to know how much gas he was going to get. They don't leave enough gas in those tanks to get you home if you live across the street.
