A disturbing story out of Bullitt County. A man is in jail accused of sexually abusing a 16-year old mentally challenged boy.

Police said the victim was mentally challenged and the abuse has been going on for more than a year.

Police said Rick Barr, 48, took advantage of the mentally challenged boy by giving him drugs and luring him into his home. Investigators worry there could be other victims.

At one point, the victim's mother called Ricky Barr a good family friend, but now she said she's never been happier to see someone in cuffs, heading for jail.

"It makes me sick to my stomach," she said.

"He took him out, did some things with him typical thing a pedophile does, buddied up to him," said Lt. Scotty McGaha of the Bullitt County Sheriff's Department. "And we believe he was giving him some drugs."

Suspicions arose after the victim's mother received a call from a close friend about what her own son told her.

"He told his mom that Rick Barr was getting my son high and taking him out stealing stuff from CSX Railroad," she said.

Noticing big changes in his behavior, the teen's mother confronted him.

"He broke down and told me," she said. By coming forward, she said she hopes to help any other possible victims who, like her son, may be suffering in silence.

"Just talk to you children if you have been around this man," she said. "Your children may not tell you, but please talk to their friends."

Barr is being held at the Bullitt County Jail charged with rape and sodomy. He was also cited for cultivating marijuana and receiving stolen property.

It is bad enough that people use and abuse their own bodies, but there is a special place in h*** for those who take advantage of children and those with child-like minds. There is nothing more dispicable than people like this man!! Hope he finds himself in a dirty, grimy, 8X8 cell with the biggest, meanest, sexually depraved pervert there is. Karma--what goes around comes around!
