State police are looking into a rash of catalytic converter thefts in three northern Kentucky counties.

It's happening in Pendleton, Bracken, and Robertson Counties.

Police say the thieves are breaking into vehicles parked in parking lots, driveways and on streets. Police say the thefts are occurring at night.

Police say they are taking the catalytic converters by crawling under the vehicles and using pipe cutters. The thieves are targeting Toyota pickup trucks and sedans and Dodge trucks.

Police say thieves take the stolen parts to a recycling business where they are sold for scrap.

A new state law is supposed to cut down on that type of transaction. Kentucky House Bill 106 requires junkyards and other purchasers of diverse metals to keep records of transactions, and to report the transactions to law enforcement.

If you have any information reference these incidents, please contact Kentucky State Police Post 6 at 859-428-1212.

I for one am ready to take care of these low life thieves! If I catch you on my property you had better be expecting to here gunshots! Get a job like all the other honest hardworking people. You wouldn't like it if someone was stealing from you!
