The annual Bluegrass State Games kick off Friday night at Applebee's Park in Lexington. The celebration will begin with the lighting of the torch inside the stadium, followed by a fireworks show.
Competitive sports, such as flag football, swimming, and track, begin Saturday. With rising temperatures and full sunshine expected this weekend, preparations are being made to keep everyone cool.
Andy Shea, General Manager for the Lexington Legends, says, " It is going to be one of those things you have to have a game plan for."
Medics and trainers will be on site at every location during the sporting events. Bottled water will also be available to everyone.
