Judge Approves DNA Testing in Child Murder Case

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) - A judge has approved DNA testing in the
case of a Louisville man accused of killing a 4-year-old boy whose body was found in a trash dump.
Cecil Eugene New is charged with kidnapping and killing Cesar "Ivan" Aguilar-Cano, who disappeared near Churchill Downs last
year. The boy was found in the back of a garbage truck eight days later.
Prosecutors plan to seek the death penalty if New is convicted.
Jefferson Circuit Judge Judith McDonald Burkman also signed an
order allowing forensic testing on plastic bags that may be evidence in the case.
Neither prosecutors nor New's attorneys would discuss any of the
evidence after a brief hearing on Monday.
New has been on the Kentucky sex offender registry since March
