Thousands of would-be stars waited in Louisville on Monday, hoping to become the next American Idol.
The popular show held auditions Monday in Louisville at the Fair and Exposition Center.
The Derby city is one of eight sites picked for Idol auditions.
Those in line on Monday sang for producers. Only a few lucky contestants were given the chance to return to Louisville in September to perform in front of judges Randy, Simon and Paula.
The second round of auditions will be held at Churchill Downs.
