LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) - A federal lawsuit alleges Lexington's
government and a Kentucky agency are breaking the law by providing
certain services to illegal immigrants.

The lawsuit charges that Lexington's health department provides
several non-emergency services to undocumented immigrants -
including cancer testing and pregnancy tests. It also says
brochures produced by Kentucky's Office of Vocational
Rehabilitation try to cater to illegal immigrants.

The petition was filed Monday in U.S. District Court by two
Lexington residents and one Danville resident. It asks for the
governments to immediately halt all services to illegal immigrants
except in the case of an emergency. It also proposes small daily
fines.

A spokeswoman for Lexington mayor Jim Newberry, Susan Straub,
said the city had no comment on the lawsuit. A call Tuesday to the
Kentucky Office of Vocational Rehabilitation was not immediately
returned.

What is right about giving free prenatal services to those here illegally that purposelly choose to have more children for the benefits. How many Americans have fewer children because they are conscientious enough to realize the limitations of the financial responsibility. Not our Hispanic illegal freeloaders....they know the stupid gringos will just give them more money to keep them coming. I say, make them pay for having their own babies and they'll think twice about producing more anchor babies.

I don't have a problem with using local funds to help the unfortunate, but LFUCG health Dept should require proof of application for citizenship. Make them apply, get people documented. For me to get services at the health dept, i have to prove my income with a tax return, and a social security card. Are immigrants being required to do this? I strongly doubt it. This is reverse discrimination. The same applies for american citizens applying for jobs that require background checks. If you've had even minor trouble with the law you can't get a job, but you can't prove an illegals even in the system. I'm tired of non tax paying immigrants being treated better than tax payers..Lets get something done NOW!!!!

look people don't blame the mexicans, blame the ones that are responisble. the state government and the idiotic rich libs. I know that you have seen all the mexicans along side the road picking up the garbage you so called self rightous americans/ kentuckians keep throwing out, and cutting the weeds/grass that you so called hard working citizens don't want to do or maybe these idiots at the dept of trans. think everyone in ky. is employed or that maybe the elitest scum think we are all just stupid peons.

I can't figure it out all of our jobs are going to Mexico but all of the Mexicans are coming here. They win either way. We have people here in America that should be took care of first. I have a good idea for them but probably shouldn't put it on here. This country has got itself in this mess,always handing out to the wrong ones for the wrong reasons. They are FREE LOADERS!!!!!!

Yes they do work and yes they do the jobs that know one wants but hey if they were legal and paid taxes then I wouldn't have a problem with them getting free or low cost health care, but if you look on Ray Lsrsons website and look at all the illegals who are bring into this country nothing but drugs, they knock up their old ladies, get food stamps and welfare checks all the while sending all their money back to Mexico, if the US was collecting taxes on all these so called hard working SOBs maybe are economy would pick up some.

Paul, legals dont need interpreters, I think to become a us citizen you must first be able to speak our language, so yes I do know they are all illegals

Ah, when things get bad enough, the Americans will send them back to Mexico packing. Should have already happened. It is OUR country, if the government won't enforce the law, maybe us armed country boys should. Wouldn't be too hard to line em up, and march em back.

I care about all people. I also follow the rules. This country is in "trouble" and we need to follow those rules and cut back and limit what we are spending. In a " family" your own comes first and then if you are able to help you step outside the family. The people who don't belong here by standards set by our government should not be eligible for any benefits. If they are here illegally then they should not only be deported home but be made to pay a price for breaking the law.

The U.S. economy would collapse without immigrant labor. Think twice before saying "send them home." Patriotism isn't about waving the flag and proclaiming "America for Americans." A real American walks the walk: welcomes immigrants to THE country of immigrants and looks for ways for the whole community to benefit. Next time you see an immigrant you should thank them for coming to contribute to our great nation. Anti-immigrant is Un-American.

I think this country bends over backwards for illegals. they get free health care,housing, and food stamps. we don't have jobs because they have been sent to Mexico and other places rather than keep them in the USA.Are you listing Anonymous? Mexicans are not the hardest working people. People in this Country would work if they had the chance. Most of your parents think about their children, if they work and go over the limit they will loose their medical coverage, rent will go up and they will loose part if not all of their food stamps. A family can not survive on minimum wage. I think if you are not legal you should be sent back to Mexico or where ever you came from.

The word "illegal" says it all. They are the ones breaking our laws and we do NOT need to be giving them any benefits. There are a lot of people who have lived here all their lives and don't get this degree of care. No benefits to illegals!! Very proud of these people who have come forward to try and stop this. Our government officials need to listen to the citizens of this great state and spend our taxes wisely.

I agree with everyone I pay for all my medical and dental expense. I look at it this way If you want service must pay for it .My doctors bills are pilling up but I do pay for it .If they get free services then why can't The rest of us ?There are people here in The good old USA that are legal people that can't and won't go to Doctors cause bills are so high So If they get free services THEN WHY CAN"T WE

Sure it sounds like a good idea. Cut off their health care and they die off or leave right? Well no thats not what happens. They have kids which become citizens that arent healthy due to lack of care during pregnancy. So the kids suffer. Also things like tuberculosis come back in record numbers if people are allowed to roam the streets with it untreated. So human health is very differant than say a social security check.

About time somebody steps up. My mom is unfortunate to have to go to the health department. She has worked hard all of her life and paid taxs and due to her developing cancer at a young age of 52 was force to go on disability and rely on healthcare at the health department. When you walk into the health department it is so catered toward the hispanic population that even the enter and exit signs are in spanish. The place is full of about 90% hispanic, and the medication programs for the free maintanence(diabetes,high blood pressure) drugs for low income people are all sucked up by the hispanics. It's not only the women that are seen undocumented, but the men also. My mom has to wait hours for scheduled appointments because of inadequate staffing because of the case loads for the mexicans. They even have paid translators there at the health department that their sole job is translating. We tax payers pay for that.
