LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - A fire damaged the upstairs portion of a house along Taborlake Circle in Lexington Sunday afternoon.
A neighbor noticed smoke coming from the upstairs portion of the house and alerted the homeowner. The homeowner and his cats were able to escape safely.
"I went in the side and I rescued my cat and then another officer came in and with a flashlight, got the other cat. The smell was just really strong. It started from the back and moved its way to my dad's room," explained the homeowner's daughter, Jessica Roach.
Firefighters say they were able to contain the fire quickly once they arrived. They believe there is significant damage to the upstairs portion of the home and there is some water damage downstairs.
Fire crews do not yet know what caused the fire.
