It was a stormy start to the day on Wednesday in some parts of the bluegrass.

Strong storms with hail, strong winds and lightning moved through the Lexington in the morning.

Lightning struck a house on Banyan Park Road, jolting a man who was on the front porch. He says he felt the shock in his foot and felt like he was having a heart attack.

Some construction workers parked nearby rushed to help the man, who stumbled out into the street. He was not seriously hurt.

Fire crews say the lightning hit the house's gutter, causing the jolt.

On average in the U.S., nearly 90 people die from being struck by lightning every year.
