A Lexington woman accused of abandoning her newborn baby on the front porch of a home was arraigned on Thursday afternoon.

23-year-old Ashlee Stephens is charged with abandonment of a minor.

Three weeks ago, police say Stephens left her day-old baby in a laundry basket outside a home on Lincoln Avenue.

The baby is now doing OK. Investigators say Stephens had no connection to the home where she left the baby.

In court on Wednesday, Stephens had her attorney enter a not guilty plea on her behalf. Stephens is scheduled for a preliminary hearing on August 6th.

At least this young person did leave the baby on the porch of a home were it would receive care instead of in a garbarge dumpster. She may not have had any insight or informatiion on what her options would be.

Look at the bright side at least she did not have a abortion cut its head off in the womb while some Doctor got paid for interior womb child decapitation, when we look at it this way it does make it seem a little more merciful anyway it cant be that bad Moses got dropped off in Egypt for a while until God had him do what he sent him there to do I wander what is this child's Job in Kentucky?

At least she didn't kill it or just throw it away to die, I'm sure she has her reasons for leaving this gift of God where she did. I wonder how they found who the Mother was and that she was the one who left it there. This world would be a better place if more did what she did and not abuse these gifts from God or kill them.

Some consideratin should be give. Even though she abandoned the child, she did wrap it and leave it where she thought it would be found, She did not throw it in the garbage, or hide it in a duffel bag or throw it out like trash. If the child was left alive and well cared for with all intentions for someone to find this child in a timely manner, I don't feel she just wanted it to be gone even though she couldn't care for it. Are we forgetting all these other babies that have received such tragic treatment when their "mothers" felt they couldn't care for them.

Leave this woman ALONE. At least she didn't leave the baby in a dumpster or drown it! To her, this probably seemed like a safe option. Now we are only going to encourage other scared women to avoid handing their babies over instead of harming them. This is insane.
