Very slow moving showers and thunderstorms will move into our area overnight and Sunday. The potential for flooding will be heightened in southern and eastern Kentucky.
A truck driver was trapped for nearly an hour Friday afternoon after power lines came crashing down on top of his rig.
A power pole snapped at Richmond Road and Mt. Tabor.
KU officials say the driver was making a delivery behind some stores when he somehow clipped a low hanging wire, which caused the pole to snap in half. The transformer then came crashing to the ground.
The accident left live wires draped over the truck.
People who work in the area rushed to get kitty litter to place on fluid, leaking from the transformer.
After about an hour, KU officials were sure the wires were not a danger to the driver and he was allowed to get out of his truck.
The accident knocked out power to businesses in the area, but most of it was fixed by 5:00 Friday afternoon.
