30 Mile Chase Ends In Richmond

A suspected drunk driver led police on a chase that spanned two counties.

State police say a sheriff's deputy in Estill County attempted to pull over the driver for suspected DUI Sunday afternoon. He refused to stop and led officers on a pursuit that crossed into Madison County. Once inside Madison County, officers from local and state agencies took over the pursuit.

At some point during the chase, the suspect managed to ram three different police cruisers. Two of the cruisers that were hit were from Richmond P.D. and one was from KSP. The suspect finally crashed on Jack's Creek Road in Richmond following a tactical maneuver by a KSP trooper.

Police have yet to release the identity of the suspect. He was transported to Patty A. Clay Hospital for treatment of what appeared to be minor injuries. None of the officers involved in the pursuit were injured.

The suspect will be lodged in the Madison County Detention Center and will face charges in Estill and Madison County.
