Very slow moving showers and thunderstorms will move into our area overnight and Sunday. The potential for flooding will be heightened in southern and eastern Kentucky.
An investigation is underway after someone tried to torch a Lexington Police officer's cruiser early Thursday morning.
Someone threw a Molotov cocktail at the cruiser that was parked outside the officer's home on Lincoln Avenue, off Richmond Road.
The officer woke up and ran outside only to see his cruiser on fire.
The fire was contained to the outside of the vehicle, but the cruiser has some damage to its driver's side.
Police say while it is unfortunate, it isn't really unusual. There are more than 20 cases so far this year of vandalism on Lexington police cruisers. Officers do say this is one of the worst cases they've seen.
Police say the damage to the car will probably cost $1,000 to fix, which makes this a felony case.
Police say they are actively searching for the person or persons responsible.
