LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. (WKYT) - Investigators say an 87-year-old man was robbed outside his Laurel County home Monday.
The Laurel County Sheriff's Office says around 10:30 a.m., two men showed up at the victim's home in the Lily community.
"They were identifying themselves as surveyors," said Public Affairs Deputy Gilbert Acciardo. "Actually lured him outside of the house and behind the house, at that time they wrestled him to the ground."
The victim didn't want to go on camera but he told WKYT's Victor Puente that one of the men held his arms, while the other took his wallet, which had money and a credit card inside.
The two men left in an off-white pickup. Acciardo says both men were white, one was young and thin, the other was in his mid 30's and heavier set.
He says this is a reminder that until you know who you're dealing with, never let anyone in your home.
"We would recommend that if somebody comes to your property, to your door like that, get some identification off them before you even open your door to them," he said.
Deputies have not made any arrests in the case.
