A central Kentucky community is in shock after a well-known veterinarian dies in what many people are calling a freak accident.
Dr. Caroline Bevins-Taylor died over the weekend, during surgery for a broken leg.
She suffered the injury Saturday, while at the Kentucky Horse Park, for a Hunter's jumper event.
Bevins-Taylor's friends say the 46-year-old was loading equipment onto a trailer, when somehow she became pinned by the trailer.
The incident ended up fracturing her leg.
Bevins-Taylor was taken to UK Hospital, but died while in surgery to repair the fracture.
Doctors say during the surgery, a blood clot formed in her lungs, causing her death.
Bevins-Taylor was a veterinarian at the Bevins Animal Hospital in Frankfort.
Funeral services are set for Thursday morning, at Rogers Funeral Home in Frankfort.
