A Jessamine County family experienced the wrath of early Wednesday morning thunderstorms first hand.
Lightning struck their home on South Elkhorn Road in Keene, catching it on fire.
Firefighters say lightning struck a gas line causing a fire in the basement.
When the basement doors were opened, oxygen caused the fire to spread to air ducts in the home's walls.
The family says fire alarms went off in the home and they got out all right.
It will be a few days before they can fix the damage and return.
