Woman dies after crash in Lexington

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - A woman has died after a crash involving her car and a pickup Friday.

The crash happened just before noon on Georgetown Road at Briarwood Drive.

Police say a pickup hit a car at that intersection.

The Fayette County Coroner's Office says the driver of the car, 77-year-old Margaret Elery of Lexington, later died from the injuries she suffered in the crash.

A second person in her car was also injured.

The driver of the pickup was not injured. Police say he told them he got distracted, and didn't see a red light, which caused him to hit the car.
