BARBOURVILLE, Ky. (WKYT) - BABOURVILLE, Ky. (WKYT) – A drive along Maggie Cane road turns up many signs of the children who play there day after day.
“And happiness and playing,” said Bruce Rose.
Yet on Tuesday afternoon what would normally be laughter and little girl giggles….became sobs of sadness…and tragedy.
“I never dreamed that happening. Terrible. Terrible. Terrible,” said Rose.
Rose says his brother Scott was coming home from work when he slowed down because some small children were in the roadway. They moved…he rolled forward..and that’s when he realized the horror of what had just happened.
“Everyone is in a daze right now. Nobody knows what to do or think,” he said.
Rylan Rose was rushed to the Knox County hospital…then airlifted to UK where the 22 month old died Tuesday afternoon.
“Her grandmother died last month. Same house. I don’t know if they are over that yet. And this happens,” he said.
Kentucky police say they believe it was just an accident….and do not expect to file any charges. They say alcohol or drugs were not involved.
Rose says he feels awful for his younger brother, who is beside himself over the accident.
