The cold front is now working into eastern Kentucky with winds gusting to near 40mph at times. Temps have dropped into the 30s behind the front and we've had reports of sleet and snow mixing with the rain in Lexington.
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (AP) - Fire officials say a second church in
south-central Kentucky has been destroyed by fire.
2 churches in Ky. gutted by fire
Kentucky State Police arson investigator David West told The Daily News of Bowling Green that Friday's blaze at the Mount Zion Church of Christ in Warren County was intentionally set.
A fire on Wednesday destroyed the Mount Pleasant Church of Christ about 8 miles away. West says the cause of that fire remains under investigation. He said officials are investigating whether
the fires may be linked.
The fire at Mount Zion was reported shortly after 3 a.m. CDT. Richardsville volunteer Fire Chief Brian Lee says most of the church had burned when firefighters arrived.
Mount Zion Church of Christ minister Gary Hays says the historic
building near Richardsville opened in 1852. He says Sunday services
will go on at the Richardsville Community Center.
