Convicted sex offender accused of stalking woman in Bardstown

BARDSTOWN, Ky. (WKYT) - Bardstown Police have arrested a convicted sexual offender they say stalked a woman.

Police say they were called to McDonald's Thursday morning, for a report of a suspicious man with binoculars in the parking lot.

Police say they found Johnny Dean Johnson in a car parked outside the restaurant. They say he had a pair of binoculars by his feet, a baseball bat by the door, and another stick, a knife, and duct tape in the back seat.

They say Johnson changed his story several times as to why he was at the restaurant.

Police say a 19-year-old woman, who works at the McDonald's, told them Johnson had been following her after she got off work, and she had to take different ways home to elude him.

Police say the victim also claimed Johnson would also come into the restaurant, order one item, then remain inside for hours. The victim claimed Johnson would follow her outside when she took a break, and act as if he was on his cell phone.

Police arrested Johnson, and charged him with second degree stalking. They say an investigation revealed he's on the lifetime sexual offender registry and he has a previous stalking charge.
