A late Thursday night crash on I-75 in Scott County left the interstate shut down for hours.

Police aren't sure why the driver of a pickup truck was going the wrong way in the northbound lanes.

The crash happened when a semi tried to avoid the truck and clipped the pickup's rear tires.

The impact sent the truck spinning.

It hit a UPS semi head-on.

The pickup's driver was thrown about 40 feet.

He was found in a ditch and later taken to the hospital in critical condition.

His name hasn't been released.

The driver of the the UPS truck, Steven Kearns, has been treated and released from the hospital.

Police are still investigating why the driver of the pickup truck was going the wrong way.
