Pedestrian Killed In Hit-And-Run Crash

A Lexington man is dead after being struck by a vehicle while trying to cross New Circle Road Sunday night. His female companion was severely injured in the accident.

Authorities say it appears the two were crossing New Circle at about 9:00 p.m. near the intersection of Bryan Station Road. Witnesses say they were heading toward the Bryan Station Inn.

The man who died has been identified as Michael Stamper, 53, of Lexington.

Police haven't released the name of the woman injured.

Police are still searching for the driver of the car.

A collision reconstruction unit is investigating the accident.
