A young boy is recovering from serious burns after he was injured while playing.

Police in Russell Springs say five-year-old Caleb Farris and his friends were playing with fire and a water bottle filled with a liquid accelerant.

Police say the bottle caught fire, scaring a child who then threw it in the air. The bottle fell on Farris, causing second and third degree burns on his chest and face.

He was flown to UK Hospital with critical injuries, but was upgraded to serious condition Wednesday.

AMEN, Fred..let's concentrate on praying for the recovery of this child instead of passing judgement on the parents.

"Where was Dad? Where was Mom? Where was the parents?". Reality check people...do you all seriously watch your children 24-7? Do you and your spouses take turns sleeping so you can monitor your child while they sleep? Do you go to the bathroom and bathe with your children? Look. Here's the facts. Children will get into things. That's what they do. You CANNOT child-proof the world, no matter how hard you try. It was a horrible accident. Period. Quit focusing on blame and focus on praying for the child. I'll tell you one thing though, I just wish I could be as perfect a parent as you all obviously are...

Dad, where were you? Where was mom? This is why you are supossed to be watching the 5 yr old. I know sometimes you have to let kids be kids but this didn't happen in a matter of a few seconds that the child was out of your sight. A 5 yr old gets confused as to how to explain things as this. The other boy DID toss the bottle but maybe it wasnt intentional to toss it at him. He was scared to and I really dont think he meant to burn ya son. I pray for his speedy recovery and God bless you all. Please do not judge til you know. That will only hurt a lot of people. Bottom line is..This child shouldnt have been out of your sight and he should not have to go through this. But since it happened, shame on all the parents who do NOT watch what their children are doing. Kids are mischecious. Godspeed to you Caleb.

Where were the parents? How did he even get his hands on this stuff? It mentioned he was playing with friends also. Where were those parents? I am so sick of hearing of how all these children are getting hurt, abused, left in cars. All htese children that suffer due to the stupidity of others. If you can not take care of a child properly - here is a hint BIRTH CONTROL!!!!!

I'm glad to know I've raised my 5 year old to know that lighters, matches, etc are NOT for children. Even if one is mistakenly left within her reach..she will bring it to me. God bless this child.

What a terrible thing to happen to such a young child. Where were the parents. I use to live there at one time and the kids there ran wild. You have to watch your kids so that terrible accidents like this doesn't happen.

The child that was burned is a terrible accident. The local radio station has been saying that it happen at the Russell Springs Manor , but it didn't It happened at the Springs Moble Home Park. The manor is low income housing and is always get a bad rap. the Manor is a good place to live. I don't know if you can mention this or not but thank you for your attention to the matter .
