A Berea family says a home renovation project turned into a nightmare.

The Bonds family say they hired a contractor to renovate their home, from new windows to a deck.

However, the homeowners say they were instead left with unfinished work and $25,000 bill.

The family says they've contacted county attorneys but were told because the work began, this is now a civil suit not a criminal case.

We tried contacting the contractor Bobby Robins several times, but all of our calls went unanswered.

I don't trust any contractors!!! They charge way too much for their work and sometimes they can't even fix what they are getting paid to fix. I think the laws should be tougher on those people who lie and take innocent people's money.

While having my shingles replaced with a metal roof, the workers knocked my gutters down. Then I was told they don't do gutters, leaving me to face having to pay someone to come in and repair the damage they did. A reputable company should hold themselves responsible for any damage they do. Next time I get a contractor I'll have that in writing. Live and learn. By the way, I'm on a fixed income due to disabilty, so the gutters have not been fixed yet. The bad contractors make life hard for the good ones.
