Police Cruiser, ATV Collide
The crash happened when a trooper tried to pull over a man on an ATV.

State police are investigating after a bizarre wreck involving a trooper and an ATV.

It all started Friday night in Letcher County when Trooper Ben Campbell tried to pull over Tommy Newman of Whitesburg. He who was riding his ATV along Highway 317.

Police say Newman suddenly braked, causing Trooper Campbell to swerve to avoid hitting him.

Then, police say Newman turned sharply and hit Campbell's cruiser.

Newman was airlifted to the hospital. He was not wearing a helmet.

Charges are expected to be filed.

Do you think the ATV rider should have a refresher course on rules of the "road"? The trooper was doing his job. Thank you KSP for doing your job.

the atv rider will should be charged why ask he caused the trooper to hit him by locking the brakes and turning in front of him stop bashing KSP

Well, if ATV riders would obey the law & not ride upon the roadway, this would not have happened. The Trooper is in the right, where in the KRS does it say that ATV's can ride upon all roads in the state. I would throw the book at ATV riders!!!!!!
