Gas Station Takes Measures to Conserve Gas

By  |

In one Central Kentucky city, the panic at the pump led to a very unusual sight, $5.99 a gallon gasoline at a Bath County gas station.

After speaking with the owners, they say the sign said $5.99, but they were actually selling unleaded gas for under $4.00. They say they put that on the marquee to keep from running out of gas.

Owners of Town & Country Food Mart say while trying to discourage frantic drivers from flocking to their pumps, by 3:00, the station was out of unleaded and plus gas, leaving premium and diesel the only option for customers.

We called the Attorney Generals office to see if advertising $5.99 when selling for less was legal, but the office says it is investigating each complaint individually and could not comment at this time.
