ASHLAND, Ky. (AP) - An eastern Kentucky jailer has been indicted
for allegedly raping a female inmate he was transporting.

Boyd County grand jurors on Friday charged 50-year-old Charles F. Howard of Sandy Hook with one count of first-degree rape.

Howard was arrested Sept. 2 after a 26-year-old female inmate told authorities that Howard raped her in a remote area as he was taking her from Elliott County to the Boyd County Detention Center in Catlettsburg.

If convicted, Howard could be sentenced to 10 to 20 years in prison.

Howard was released on bond Friday.

SHouldnt it be policy that a woman escort a woman prisoner? After all jails keep women gaurds so they can do strip searches. Most male guards request security cameras to be set to record when they escort a female around the jail or even on the way to release. Just for this very reason of all it takes is an accusation to ruin a mans life. Yet if hes proven innocent the woman walks. More proof of sexism in this country. If a woman crys rape and is proven a liar she should receive the same life sentence she would have given an innocent man. That would drop rape accusations by at least 30%.

The Boyd County jailer HAS NOT been indicted on rape charges. Charles Howard is the Elliot County jailer. He was being held in the Boyd County Detention Center.

Maybe where there is smoke there is fire (or semen....like with Bill Clinton). I'm sure if there is any DNA to be found it will tell at least part of the tale. You gotta be careful and use good judgement when dealing with bad girls.
