LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) - About 25 members of the Kentucky Air Guard's 123rd Special Tactics Squadron are headed to the hurricane-battered Texas coast to help with rescue operations.

Chief Master Sgt. Pat Malone said the first of two flights of airmen began leaving Louisville on Saturday.

The aircraft are loaded with medical and rescue gear, as well as communications and navigational equipment.

Hurricane Ike roared ashore in Texas, flooding thousands of homes and businesses and leaving millions without power.
