Police say 26-year-old Devin Overbey of Corbin had been shot but they're not sure if that's how he died.
Officials say they got the call around ten Sunday morning about a body off to the side of Happy Hollow Road in the Lily community of Laurel County.
Evelyn Perkins lives nearby and says she saw Overbey's body before police came. She called 911, then said she was going to start CPR but realized it was already too late.
"Yeah it was something I've never seen before I was waiting for CSI to be here you know to do something to make it go away" said Perkins.
So far police are saying little about how Overbey may have died.
Laurel County Sheriff's Deputies assisted at the scene and detectives there say Overbey was shot and his body was badly injured.
Police didn't elaborate on his other injuries and say autopsy results are pending.
"The Laurel County Major Crimes Task Force is investigating it and look to see if any suspects or weapons" says Steve Smallwood with Kentucky State Police.
Police think Overbey was last seen alive at his uncle's house in Keavy.
Neighbors like Evelyn Perkins say they still can't believe what happened.
"I live at the top of the hill up there and this is just a little bit close for me" said Perkins.
If you have any information regarding this crime you should call state police in London.
