Fiancee Seeks Answers in Laurel Man's Murder

A man found dead along a road 20 miles from his home. His fiance says she has no idea who would want him dead.

"He was the best person I've ever known. He had a heart of gold," says Overbey's fiance, April Helton.

But at least someone wanted him dead because police say Devin Overbey was murdered, and then his body dumped along Happy Hollow Road in Laurel County.

"He was going to visit his uncle who lives a mile from here. He said he
would be right back, but he never came home," said Helton.

Police say Overbey died of multiple injuries but Helton believes her
fiancee was beaten to death.

Why someone would inflict such violence upon Overbey is open to only
speculation on Helton's part.

"Just something went wrong, Just maybe they thought he had a little money or something on him," she said.

Helton says she and Overbey had been together for 6 years. She says
one of her children even called him 'Daddy.'

"He was my life. And I don't know what I'm going to do without him. He was my best friend."
