The sluggish economy could cost some Kentucky auto workers their jobs.
GM has announced it will slow production at it's Corvette assembly plant in Bowling Green.
The plant employs about 800 workers, and layoffs could begin as soon as next month.
GM officials say it is unusual for the Corvette's sales to falter, because it typically sells well, despite the economic climate.
The plant will reportedly shut down for a week in October for equipment adjustment and to teach employees how to slow down production.
