Gas Leak Shuts Down School System

Crews were working on Friday to figure out what caused a gas leak that shut down Powell County Schools for the day.

Someone discovered the leak Thursday afternoon near Clay City Elementary School in Powell County. Nearly seven hundred students and staff members were evacuated as a precaution.

A few people complained of headaches, but emergency crews checked them out and said they're OK.

There's no word yet on what caused the gas leak.

All Powell County schools were closed Friday so crews can investigate.
