Police Bargaining Agreement Near Conclusion

The Bluegrass Fraternal Order of Police has been negotiating a collective bargaining agreement since the start of the year for officers.

Officials say the intent was once the contract was final, it would be signed by the mayor and go into effect.

However, the commissioner of the law questioned whether the mayor could sign without the approval of council, prompting discussion at the meeting.

Several Lexington Police officers came together in support of the mayor signing the agreement, so they could start getting their new pay scale and benefits.

The Urban County Government voted remove the resolution proposed in the docket, essentially giving the mayor authority to sign the agreement.

In the council meeting, the Urban County Government also approved the TIF for Centre Pointe after the developer agreed for the analysis.
