29-year-old Lexington man dies in car accident

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - Investigators are trying to figure out what caused a crash on a Lexington road that killed a driver.

Along a narrow stretch of Old Richmond Road is where Lexington Police say a man was traveling south when he lost total control of his car for unknown reasons and slammed into a nearby tree.

It happened around 6:30 Friday evening near the intersection of McCall’s Mill and Old Richmond Road.

Police say there was a small fire within in vehicle after the crash but the man ended up dying from injuries due to blunt force trauma.

Police do not believe drugs or alcohol played a role in this deadly crash.

The two lane road had to be blocked off and traffic had to be rerouted for several hours as crash reconstruction units and the Fayette County Coroner remained on scene to conduct their investigation.

No passengers or other cars were involved in Friday’s fatal wreck.

A press release from the coroner’s office states that the victim was 29-year-old, Addison Jones, of Lexington.
