Man Hospitlized, Trooper Placed On Leave After Shooting

CANEYVILLE, KY -- A western Kentucky man was hospitalized and a Kentucky State Police trooper placed on administrative leave following a shooting incident Saturday night.

A Kentucky State Police news release states officers responded to the Caneyville community of Butler County north of Bowling Green after receiving a report of a dispute involving gunfire between neighbors.

The release states that as officers approached the home of the alleged shooter, 53-year old Kenneth Todd fired at the officers.

Thirty-four year old KSP Trooper Todd Combs reportedly returned fire injuring Todd, according to the KSP news press release.

Todd was transported by helicopter to Vanderbilt University Hospital in Nashville where he underwent surgery. No indication as of Sunday morning as to his condition.

The KSP reports that no officers were injured and that charges against Todd are pending.

Another individual, identified as Emmit Henderson Jr., was found at the location. He apparently had been shot before officers arrived. Henderson was treated and released from the Medical Center at Bowling Green.
