Clear Creek in Shelbyville is causing a lot of concern for those who live near it. Late last week, the water began turning black and then, fish began popping up dead.

"It's scary, I've never seen anything like it" said Linda Cook, who lives a block from the Creeks edge.

The creek has since been quarantined off and city and environmental leaders took samples of the water Friday.

Authorities think they now know what caused the fish kill.
They say last week's windstorm caused a pumping station to shut off, which let some sewage into Clear Creek. They also say since water levels are low there is a lack of oxygen in the creek.
Officals handed out flyers warning people to stay away from the creek and not fish there.
