FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) - A judge has given lawyers for online casinos seven days to file legal briefs in a case that could lead to the blocking of gambling web sites in the state.

Should the state have the authority to block access to online casinos?
Yes
No
I don’t have an opinion.

Franklin County Circuit Judge Thomas Wingate said he wants attorneys to submit the briefs before he holds another hearing in the case that he described as "very complex."

Kentucky Justice Cabinet spokeswoman Jennifer Brislin said some
online casino operators already have begun blocking access to Kentuckians in response to the lawsuit filed by state officials.

Brislin said the objective is to shut down the Web sites in Kentucky, not worldwide.

I heard an interview with the Guv and he said online gaming is hurting families. So, does this mean his casinos or race-inos are going to be "family friendly" and if I lose my money, he'll reimburse me so I can buy groceries or make my mortgage payment? He's a joke and you all thought Fletcher was bad. You got what you wanted now LIVE WITH THE STUPIDITY!

This is the United States. What is legal in one state should be legal in all. Money should not be a basis for determining rights and freedoms.

...Blocking online gambling...why not just build casinos and also leave the internet alone. It's not going to interfear because most people would rather play live anyways, it's just that the gov. thinks it's going to interfear, probably because he's on something. If you can actually get that stupid then I was wrong, George Bush isn't that dumb after all. People don't see what the hell is going on because they're to afraid to admit it, but I'll admit it right now...OUR COUNTRY IS LOOSING IT!!! And I'll flame this country and this state and this gov. as much as I want because I can. Maybe if you some of the politicians actually shut up and get a life out side of politics then maybe they would do just a little bit better of a job. Telling people what they can't do in their own homes...my god, the fore-fathers of this country would....my god.

You can't block specific websites, they would simply rotate their IP addresses every day. Via re-routing from the original site. I knew we had brain dead officials in Frankfort, now I'm speechless on it. They cant do squat. If that could be done every country that hates us would have already knocked us out of the internet system. Hey Gov. DUH!

I am so tired of Government officials thinking they have the right to tell us what to do. Leave the internet alone. It is the last thing they have not stuck their noses into. We are not children. We have the right to do what we want without Government interference.

This is how I make my living and he is gonna really hurt my earning power if this passes. With gas prices at an all time high, driving 80 miles to Indiana everyday is not feasible. Yes, from time to time their are difficulties in getting your money, but usually 99 times out of 100, the money comes in a timely manner. I play on FullTilt and when I cash out I get my money every two weeks without an issue. The PPA (Pokers Player Alliance) asked that we the players support the governor in his election bid since he was going to attempt to put casinos in this state. This is how we are repaid, I personally know many republicans who crossed over because of this issue. This is really disgraceful and reeks of the Casino lobby and the horse racing industry ponying up money to stop online gaming. By shutting us down, this will hurt professional players ability to earn a living and provide for their families. Please do not take my earning power away from me.

I have had bad experiences with online gambling at pokerstars. I won several hundred dollars one night and when i went to check out i could not collect my money. That is probably the reasons that online casino operators have begun blocking access to Kentuckians, giving them even a better excuse not to pay the persons winnings. of course online gambling sites dont care to let you enter a sit and go tourney for a few dollars, because if you did win the tournament you would only win small amount of money or a ticket to another tourney. If a person is going to gamble in my opinion, it would be to their advantage to go directly to a casino and play in person. That way you do not get crooked. WHY NOT HAVE GAMBLING LEGALIZED IN OUR ON STATE, INSTEAD OF THE MONEY GOING TO SOME FOREIGN COUNTRY? They know that if you do win a few thousand dollars from their site, they dont have to pay unless they want to pay, because it would cost you more for an attorney to try to collect your money.

No! No! No! Gov Beshear, please do not try to censor the internet. Come to your senses. If this is successful, then each state gets to decide what it wants and doesn't want censored for its citizens. Shame on you. This isn't communist China!!! How evil of the Gov.
