Firefighters from a number of departments were on the scene of an early Friday morning house fire in Clark County.

The fire broke out just after 6:00 a.m. on Clintonville Road, north of I-64, near the Bourbon County line. A neighbor called 9-1-1 after seeing the fire.

First responders say they thought someone could be inside the burning home because there was a truck parked in the driveway. Those firefighters called for back-up.

Crews from Clintonville and Winchester joined Clark County firefighters. Teams broke up; some went inside the home to see if anyone was inside and others started fighting the flames.

After finding nobody inside, crews learned the man who lives in the home is a truck driver and could be out of town driving. Most of the damage was to the rear of the house, but the home could be a total loss.

Firefighters pulled numerous belongings from the home; they say those belongings blocking exits are what led them to believe someone was trapped inside.

Right now, officials say they don't believe this fire is suspicious. They believe a heater could be to blame.
