Crews are working to control a new wildfire burning in the Daniel Boone National Forest.
Near Slade, there is a 70 acre fire in Powell County in the Red River Gorge along Route 77. Forestry officials say it was sparked by a campfire.
A complete burn ban remains in effect in the national forest preserve. Forestry officials say the cited dozen of people over the weekend for violating that ban.
The unseasonably warm and dry weather are making for extremely dangerous conditions throughout the forest.
