INDEPENDENCE, Ky. (AP) - A police chief says a northern Kentucky man shot his wife and daughter 31 times before turning the gun on
Independence Police Chief Shawn Butler told The Kentucky Enquirer that Seaward Padilla fired between 40 and 50 shots total from a .380-caliber handgun.
Police say Padilla killed himself last week after shooting and killing his wife, 45-year-old Lori Padilla, and his daughter, 22-year-old Jessica Padilla, who was five months pregnant.
All three died of gunshot wounds. Jessica's 2-year-old daughter, Jaycee, was found unharmed outside.
Authorities said a 911 call came from the Padilla residence on Oct. 7. A male caller reported a fire in the basement before hanging up.
Butler says police have not been able to determine a motive for the shootings.
