The latest retail chain to crumple under the credit crunch is Linens and Things.

The Delaware-based retailer will begin liquidating its remaining stores as early as Thursday and that includes a store at Lexington's Hamburg Pavilion. The chain was going to be sold at auction but none of the interested buyers could get approval for the credit to buy it.

The closure of Linens and Things at Hamburg follows Dahawares and Goodys, both of which also declared bankruptcy.
