They were hoping test results would shed some light on what happened to Marion Estep.

The Perry County preacher was found shot to death inside his car parked along the Hal Rogers Parkway in January.

Now nine months later, investigators say the results led them no where, but back to square one.

Estep's family tells 27 NEWSFIRST he often helps out strangers and that may have played a role in the shooting.

Family members say Estep left Chavies between 2:00 and 3:00 in the afternoon, supposedly heading to Jackson in his white 1994 Chrysler.

"I just don't understand why." said Estep's daughter, Mary Engle.

Engle sat down with us for the first time since her father's death.

She is frustrated with the lack of leads in the case and wants anyone with information to come forward.

"It feels like it just happened yesterday," she said. "He is all we think about when we wake up in the morning and when we go to bed at night."

Investigators say they are still confident other evidence still being processed at the state's crime lab will offer them the information they need to find who's responsible.

"I hope whoever did this knows they will have to answer to God and we will never forget what they have stolen from us," Engle said.

If you have any information, you are asked to call the Perry County Sheriff's Department or State Police.
