A plan to toughen Lexington's smoking ban moved forward.

Council members agreed to have a public hearing on an amendment. It would extend the smoking ban to cover bingo halls, Blue Grass airport, public transportation and all workplaces.

The forum will be held on October 23.

The amendment still needs two official readings by council. Final approval could come as early as November 6.
