More than a dozen fast acting Lexington Police Officers stopped a prisoner from possibly escaping this evening.
The prisoner was being transported to state reformatory by a Wayne County Deputy Jailer. Police say the inmate got loose from his cuffs and chains while the cruiser was on Interstate 75. The jailer quickly pulled over to get control of the prisoner, but that turned into a struggle, and the jailer called for help. Within minutes, 15 Lexington Police Officers and others were on the scene.
The officers were able to subdue the man, get him back in his cuffs, and back on the road to the hospital.
