As the Presidential campaign heads into the final stretch, Sen. John McCain is keeping his strong lead with Kentucky voters. In statewide poll by WKYT-TV and The Lexington Herald-Leader, 55 percent of likely voters say they plan to vote for McCain versus 39 percent for Sen. Barack Obama.

The Kentucky poll results come as once again taxes takes the forefront of the war of words between McCain and Obama. Speaking in Florida today, McCain accused Obama of changing his tax plan because Americans “didn't like it.” He said Obama had added a work requirement to a proposal of a 10 percent mortage credit. An Obama aide says the change was made to avoid charges that the proposal gave "welfare" to non-working Americans.

Before heading to Hawaii to visit his ailing grandmother, Obama campaigned in Indiana and attacking McCain's approach to taxes. Speaking before a crowd of some 35,000 people in downtown Indianapolis, Obama again sought to turn traditionally red-state Indiana to blue, telling the throng that McCain's approach to taxes puts "corporations ahead of workers."

The WKYT/The Herald-Leader poll found that the majority of both men and women say they would vote for McCain and his running mate Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin. The McCain-Palin ticket would get the support of 59 percent of Kentucky men and 51 percent of women. Obama and his running mate Sen. Joseph Biden would garner 37 percent of the male vote and 41 percent of the female vote.

Along racial lines, Obama would be the clear victor in the African-American vote. Nine of every 10 African-Americans would vote for Obama. Among Kentucky white voters, McCain would garner 62 percent of the vote while Obama would get 32 percent.

With the exception of the third Congressional district which is solely made up of Louisville, the poll revealed that McCain leads Obama in all regions of the state. McCain’s strongest support was in the fourth Congressional district which is made up of northern Kentucky followed by the second Congressional district which includes suburban Louisville, Elizabethtown, Bowling Green and Owensboro.

Poll Methodology

WKYT and The Herald-Leader conducted the poll with the assistance of Research 2000 of Olney, Md. Between October 19 and 21, a total of 600 likely voters were interviewed statewide telephone.

Those interviewed were selected by the random variation of the last four digits of telephone numbers. A cross section of exchanges was utilized to ensure and accurate reflection of the state. Quotas were assigned to reflect the voter registration of distribution by county.

The margin of error, according to standards customarily used by statisticians, is no more than plus or minus four percentage points. This means there is a 95 percent probability that the “true” figure would fall within that range if the entire population were sampled. The margin of error is higher for any subgroup, such as gender or party affiliation.

Amethyst if you would read some scientific literature instead of just going to your superstitious nonsense you would understand just how ignorant your statements are. You have been badly misinformed. You are making judgment based on a hysterical first century myth, not reality.

You say Obama has a "melting pot background that is perfect for our world." If that's the case, why does he claim he's black and not mixed race?

Many of you seem to be too young to remember that the day Ronald Reagan took the oath of office the hostages were returned. The reason why is because the Iranians were scared of RR and had spent 440 days laughing at Jimmy Carter. No attacks on American soil during the Clinton years, you must be too young to remember the 1993 attack on the WTC as well as the escalating number of attacks by Radical Islamists around the globe. Yes, Clinton lobbed some missles at Bin Laden but I think he just ticked them off a little more; he definitely did not kill them. Some of you don't seem to understand that we live in a democracy and that George Bush deserves a lot of blame but so does Congress and so do the American people at large. George Bush did not encourage people who make 15k a year to have 40k credit card bills and interest only mortgages with adjustable interest rates. Let's see how Pelosi/Obama spread the wealth and enact "Economic Justice". Wait 4 years and reflect on your comments.

During the Clinton Administration there were zero attacks on American soil.

The last time I checked, this is still a free country and I can and WILL vote for whomever I desire. If I don't vote for Obama, you tell me I am racist. How about I vote for the person I agree the most with, no matter the color!! Most of my black friends are voting for Obama because he is black.. not because he is the best for the job. Noone is saying they are racists!! It goes both ways...Vote your heart and just plain vote!!!

@Jethro from Rat Cheer: I'd like to know where you and your wife make your money that yours has doubled and hers has tripled under Bush? It must be the oil industry or defense contracts, because those are the only two industries that have benefitted under his administration while all the others are suffering. And if you are in either of those sectors than you should be ashamed of yourself for robbing the American people and our troops by charging ridiculous prices for substandard equipment, and then calling it "work", when in actuality it's fraud. Being a Republican myself, I can tell you that the past 8 years have been a nightmare for most businessmen, and that during the Clinton years I made more money than I have since Johnson was President. I will not vote for McCain and continue losing the business that I've worked my life for out of party loyalty. I'd rather pay more in taxes and have more to spend, than to pay less in taxes and lose my rear!

To the earlier comment claiming that if Obama was white he would be ahead in the polls; If Obama was white, the majority of the black votes across the country would have gone to Hillary and Barry would not have been nominated. Am I better off now than I was 8 years ago? D#$m Skippy I am! Income's doubled, taxes halved. Wife's income trippled, taxes halved. By working for it. Under Clinton we watched terrorist attack after attack against us worldwide and, like Carter, he would always vow to hunt them down, then do nothing while they built their strength and plotted. Under Bush there has been not one attack on U.S. soil since 9/11, and one of history's most notorious villains is no longer terrorizing his own countrymen in Iraq. And I can still legally own my guns. Changing to Obama's plans will put us even further behind than B. Clinton did. For those wanting someone with a record of working for America, not just a party, Sen. John McCain is THE choice.

@Larry: Barack's real name is Barack. He does not believe in anything but the standard abortion, he is, however, sympathetic towards failed abortions. I do not believe in our national anthem. Our national anthem essentially commands us to do evils to secure our position at the top. It also swears a non-secular allegiance to a God, just like our failure of a motto and our money. Reverend Wright was mischaracterized by the media as an extremist, when if you instead listen to his full speeches, HE IS COMPLETELY CORRECT! Approximately 60% of the US is claimed to be some form of Christian, your numbers were too low. The only people who would vote for McCain are the ones who like their FALSE MORALITY and pledge to KILL and SILENCE everyone who disagrees with them. This is absolutely NOT a Christian nation or it would have been a theocracy. It is not. End of story.

Posted by: Motley Location: Louisa, KY on Oct 26, 2008 at 11:19 PM
@Anonymous: With pride! You know what? You conservative morons can say whatever you want about this UNJUST and ILLEGAL WAR and call anyone who disagrees with you UNPATRIOTIC but the cold hard truth is that I CAN'T STAND PATRIOTISM! I HATE IT. I completely and utterly DESPISE patriotism. Patriotism has killed more people than anything but religion. I would rather go to jail than fight for a lowly country like this. But take note: you are WRONGFULLY assuming that other countries have no freedoms. The UK, Canada, Japan, etc. all have a very good amount of freedoms comparable to the US. People like YOU SIR are ruining this already-in-shambles country. You're the loser. Also, this is not and never was a Christian nation. This is a secular nation of all faiths and always has been. I will go one further: stop saying Obama is the Antichrist because he's popular. There is no God. If there were, it sure as [edited] wouldn't be the megalomanical egotistic prideful jealous monster of the Bible.

I believe Thomas Jefferson once said, "Democracy ends when you take away from those that are willing to work, and give to those that won't." What will be left then? Like many, some of my family blood was shed, willingly I might add, to protect the democratic process and our FREEDOM! Nothing is free. Promises of economical prosperity will come with a price, FREEDOM! What freedom do you want to give up to have the government supposedly "FIX" all of our problems? Think it through before you cast your ballot.

I will vote McCain/Palin. Barak's real name is Barry. Barry believes in partial birth abortion, abortion up to 9 months, and if the abortion goes wrong and there is a birth @ 9 mos. Barry still believes the mother has the right to kill the baby at 9 mos. McCain/Palin are against abortion. Lets face it neither of these two men are worthy to be our President. However, choosing between the two evils. McCain wins. Barry does not believe in our National Anthem. The bombs bursting in air is to violent for us and does not give a good example to foreign countries. Barry listen for 20 years to a black supremeist preacher. If, Barry was not running for president, he would still be listening to Reverend Wright. I vote the road to morality over the road to a false promise of economic prosperity. Mention of polls. Here is a poll no one talks about. 65-70 million people claim to be Christians.Barry can not win with this many Christians voting. Unless we have a lot of hipocrites.

Linda in Richmond I hope your cows don't go dry or your chickens stop laying eggs if someone happens to walk by your end of the lane. Given how far out of a wet paper bag you are capable of thinking no doubt you would be screeching about witches. Yes, America was founded on Christian principles but there was also an undercurrent of ignorance that has obviously reached yet another flood plain in today's society. No wonder the rest of the country assumes family trees don't fork in this state.

Herald leader a republican paper ha ha ha man what are you smoking. We had a good economy after bill Clinton and 911 left it in a mess W still pulled it out of a recession and now its took two years for the liberal senate and house to put us back in a recession just for politics. The communist democrats run things in Washington how the heck is it the republicans fault. I was living good till the kook lib's took over and if Obama Hussein wins which he is not its jimmy carter all over again and that's bad i remember him set the country back 50 years thank god for Reagan. And its awful funny that thing went down in a hand basket a month before the election sounds like the socialist liberals and acorn had something to do with this and do not forget Cris dodd and Barny frank we have you pegged Chavez liberals.

Here in Florida, every time I turn my computer on, the first face I see in the right margin is USOMA OBAMA. Every pop-up ad encourages me to vote absentee NOW - SPONSORED BY OBAMA. How many BILLION DOLLARS does his campaign have to spend to win an election between A SOCIALIST and a nice old man who needs a nap! I can't decide if I PREFER A CHAD OR A DIMPLE! P.S. in case you haven't noticed, OBAMA'S MAIN HEADQUARTERS IS LOCATED SMACK DAB IN THE MIDDLE OF THE LEXINGTON HERALD-LEADER. Remember if you support Obama, if you get angry enough at this comment, you might become ill and might not be able to vote, so that will just be another vote FOR THAT NICE OLD MAN - MCCAIN. SO RAGE ON!!!!!!!!

Motley: Leave this country. For one to say such things while the US is at war is unpatriotic. Cowards like you were the same ones who dodged the draft but had the nerve to talk badly about Vietnam when you really know nothing about the subject. Just like now you know absolutely nothing. So leave this country, if it were up to me someone with such thoughts should be forced to live somewhere where you have no freedoms. We would see how your outlook on the US was six months from now. One of the greatest strengths we have as proud Kentuckians and something we are know for is graciousness, kindness, and the ability to survive. We can survive poor schools, poor health care, etc. We can "scrap by" as my elders used to say.No matter how this goes remember our motto "United we stand, divided we fall." When you go into the booth make YOUR choice and accept what happens as an adult. Take care, times are going to be more difficult for awhile no matter who gets the job.

Bob in Mt. Sterling, you need to read up on your so called facts. Obama does put his hand over his heart when he says the pledge of allegiance or when he leads the pledge. He did not take a flag off his plane. His campaign bought a plane and the flag had to come off because it was part of the airline's logo. You will note that John McCain's "straight talk" plane does not have an American flag on it either. You can find the truth about many so called "facts" by visiting www.snopes.com They research claims that appear on the internet and in the real world to determine if they are true or false. Now I myself will not vote for a man who mistreated his crippled wife who waited for him while he was in Vietnam. If you don't love your wife, then how can you have love for anything else? Obama: One House, One Spouse!

Kentucky will do the right thing here. I myself, DO NOT want any more of BUSH policy. He has been a disgrace to the highest office, along with his buddy, Mr. C.. I know there are lot's of supporters of BUSH and company but I don't know of one good thing he's done for the people of this country except breakdown and get us a little stimulus check, which if you think, was due to us because of his stupidity of running the country. NO, I will not vote for McCAIN !!!!!!!! I want a change of leadership of this country, first by getting our troups home where they belong.. Enough of lining the pockets with money for war monger's BUSH and CHENNEY.. Our country will be much more safe with the two of them gone.... and their backers !!!!!!!!!!!!

They took a pole from 600 hundred people that voted for Ernie Fletcher, when he was govener. Kentucky is 83% DEMOCRAT, no way that many would cross and vote for Bush again. Don't worry about a newspaper that is totally 100% Republican. They arn't about the truth.

The real racism here is that over 90% of the black population is voting for Obama, and less than 25% of the whites are not voting Obama due to race. If Obama were white, I bet he would not have 90 % of the black vote. I want change just like everyone else, but civil unions, increased abortion rights, and socialism are not the change I want here, so McCain has the vote. Answer this, what has the democratic Congress done for you over the past 2 years? Given you a whopping 17% approval rating!! Wow, something to be proud of there. If the media "Golden Boy" is elected, then we'll look back in a few years and realize that we had is pretty good in 2008, but blew it with the punch of a ballotcard.

I am unsure who I will vote for... But I do not like how obama doesn't hold his hand over his heart.. We have men that gave there life for this country... And the only thing most of you care about is change I can understand some change. But for us to let a man that takes the american flag off of his airplane because he is going out of the country, that my friend is being a coward and I'm sorry but I want someone to hold there head high not take the flag down.... Also I think alot of people are just voting wrong because due to money issues and stuff... I know its hard to even get some money freed up to take your wife or your family out but I think I would suffer a little than to let some stupid man that could really mess this country up... or yet bring the war over to our house and neighborhoods... and another thing people need to read how this world is going to end... but who cares about that to right....change change change... just remember one thing the ones who fought for you..

for so many to speak up on these issues, just shows how many really pay attention to the actual reasons behind most of the denise in the U.S. today. go back and take a good look at some of the bills that were passed by the democrats and were left to be put into action by the republican. from governor to the president. while we do have a republican president, check the stats on the situation when we had a republican senate, and house of representatives then compare it to what we have became now that we have a democratic house. just do us all a favor, check your facts before speaking please. if you think things are bad now. wait n see how bad it gets when THE GREAT AMERICA votes obama in to the most powerful position in the world

Even Matt Lauer asked Obama about how people were saying he was the Messiah. DING DING, possible Anti Christ. I don't see how any born again Christian could vote for Obama. McCain's campaign is falling apart with bickering and finger-pointing amongst his aides. It seems he is doing nothing to bring his own people together, how would he do at bringing the whole country together? Obama has led an organized and cohesive campaign, I think a preview of how he will lead this country. Also, if Sarah Palin isn't ready to answer questions at a news conference or with just any TV interviewer, how is it that she is ready and able to lead the country?

@Henry: racism is a worldwide problem, but the only place in the US that is likely to be more racist than Kentucky is WVA. Since the UK is more level-headed (Read: MORE IRRELIGIOUS!) than most US states, it's a better place. Yeah, I've been there before. I know how awesome the UK is. I would say F this state in full length, but I don't think this comment would pass in that case. Still, I absolutely DESPISE THIS STATE. By proxy, I also DESPISE the US. We elected that idiot GWB not once but TWICE when he's not even suited to be a community leader! That shows the mentality of this country. The US sucks.

What exactly has Obama done for "HIS" country and don't tell me because he is/was a senator they're a dime a dozen. The only thing I've heard him say is always for or about what he can do, but nothing to back him up. guess you bleeding hearts will just have to chalk me up as racist too. because I've gave my 30 years for your beliefs, guess I'm going to have to go with the man that can WALK THE WALK AND TALK THE TALK, HE'S GAVE MORE THAN HIS SHARE FOR HIS COUNTRY. here's a tip for motley of Louisa,KY. do you think racism doesn't exist in the u.k. wrong!! lived there didn't like it. but bon voyage anyway.

Another point for voters to consider. I can't agree with all the talk of Obama's lack of experience. Heck, George W. Bush has a lot of executive experience, but how many of us would vote for him again? Think about Obama's ability communicate, his poised demeanor at all time, his willingness and openness about practicing diplomacy around the world. Bush has shown us that stomping around, guns blazing, "with us or against us" rhetoric, does not work. We need a president could can rebuild those ties around the world. That's how we will contain terrorism. Obama '08

I'm not voting for Obama so I must be a racist! I am certainly not voting for Mccain either. We were shafted out of all the good choices on either side. Ron Paul, richardson, hunter, kucinich to name a few. The elite own us all.

Posted by: RD Location: Danville on Oct 24, 2008 at 04:27 PM
It bothers me to think that a lot of McCain supporters are supporting him for one reason; abortion. Folks, think about it, George W. Bush has been one of the most anti-abortion presidents we have ever had. Has the abortion laws changed in the past 8 years? NO! Are there less abortions now? NO! I am just as much against abortion as anyone, but that issue is not going to dictate who I vote for. Roe/Wade is never going to be overturned, so we all should live with it and instead put our efforts into education and assistance for young women. And the once candidate who will do this is Obama. Folks, let's think about what each candidate can do for this country, and vote accordingly. Obama '08

A vote for Mcbush or Bush lite, is four more years of the same tried and failed Republican agenda. OH, and by the way, I'm white and a true Democrat!

Posted by: Natasha Location: Georgetown on Oct 24, 2008 at 02:53 PM
Whoever votes for McCain is not sane in their mind. Voting for him is just putting another wantabe Bush back in office. Look at our world now in a resession that could end up in a deep depression. As far as I Know there is no rich Kentuckian in Kentucky. Majority of the people here are living paycheck to paycheck. Some of the people are worst then that there just in denial. So what I am saying open your eyes and vote for Obama. Do it because its the right thing to do. Please don't make your judgement because of the color of his skin, but on the glory of his mind. If you look at it Obama has a melting pot background that is perfect for our world.

This poll makes perfect sense. KY is one of the few pro America states left, along with Texas and Alaska! Wonder if this correlates with % of people with a college degree?

Posted by: RAY Location: VERSAILLES on Oct 24, 2008 at 02:17 PM
I supppose we would all like to have a change in direction, but personally, I am not ready for the kind of changes that will be forth coming under the leadership of Obama, Pelosi and Reed. Ilived through thr Carter years in the 1970's and it wasn't mich fun. If you think the present economy is bad, try interest rates at 17%, high unemployment, and hostages held for over 400 days. That come from being weak and trying to appease people who don't want to be your friends. Vote the way you like, but remember, the grass is not always greener on the other side.

After seeing the racism in this state, I don't care who wins: I'm moving to the UK. I have nothing to lose by moving as a new adult. That's UK as in United Kingdom, for you people voting red with necks all the same. For the record: not voting for Obama because he's black or because his name or assuming he is Muslim or going the extra mile and assuming he is also a terrorist... all of that is racist. Now, when Obama wins, remember how you said he wouldn't. Just like everyone on the political blog kept saying that Beshear would lose. In fact, if you want Obama to lose, why don't you stay home all day November 4th and pray? If you go to the polls, God will see it as a lack of faith and Obama will win. Seriously. Do it.

Here the difference in liberals and conservatives i will say it in two words who do you want to be John Wayne or Elton John HaHaHaHAHa!

Whats raciest about it punk you are the racist you liberals are the ones that bring race into every thing can't you see Obamas stupid and ultra liberal policies that may have a factor on people voting or have you drunk the koolaid. Well you don't play the race card with me punk you will not make me feel guilty for calling a liberals hand whether he is white black green red orange purple god these people are ignorant.

This makes me wonder what the Kentucky voters are thinking- I don't want four more years of the McBush POLICY'S if McCAIN IS ELECTED MAYBE AT LEAST Cindy McCAIN AND Palin can shop in New York for their fancy suits together!!!

Posted by: Amy on Oct 24, 2008 at 12:35 PM
This poll is inaccurate. You can just about guarantee that if Barack Obama was a white man he would be in the lead. Also WYMT, how can you speak for us all here in Ky saying that "McCain in the lead with KY voters" ? I sure as heck am not voting for that joke of a man and his idiot and disgrace to women vice president pick. This poll just encouraged me even more to vote Obama/Biden!! God bless!

Posted by: Chris on Oct 24, 2008 at 12:26 PM
To Crystal in Knott Co.: It is apparent by your grammar and spelling that you are an Obama voter. You and the give me a handout crowd should be deemed too dumb to vote in elections!

Posted by: ss minnow Location: Richmond on Oct 24, 2008 at 11:57 AM
Here we go with the racist/bigoted name-calling! Just because Kentuckians choose to vote for McCain does not make them raicst. McCain just happens to be more in line with our conservative views. Talk about the pot calling the kettle black (pun intended)! Look at the statistics: nation wide--80 to 90 percent of black people will vote for Nobama!!Let me repeat that: 80-90% folks! Who's being racist here? You cannot make me believe that there are that many stupid black people in this great country! And by that I mean that they are SURELY NOT voting for his economic "spread the wealth" policy, his "ditch the Israelis and negotiate without any preconditions with those whom we have considered enemies" foreign policy, his "I love Ayers/Wright/Farrakhan/Pelosi/Reed/Shumer/Frank" domestic policy. I for one do not mind working for what I have. I do mind when big govt. wants to dictate who gets MY money. You want more-by golly-work for it! You want handouts, go find a socialist country to live in

Posted by: Jay Location: KY on Oct 24, 2008 at 11:50 AM
Said it before: In the last 7 out of 10 presidential elections, Kentucky has went republican. Now, can you blame those elections on racism? No, you can't! So accusing us of being racist just because the majority isn't voting for Obama doesn't hold water!

Posted by: Obama supporter Location: Kentucky on Oct 24, 2008 at 11:47 AM
Kentucky needs to stop being racist and accknowledge that Obama is the better man for president. Let's be real.

Posted by: Marcie Location: Lextown USA on Oct 24, 2008 at 11:44 AM
Obama/Biden '08! "That One" will become the next president of these United States and he will have a huge impact on the world--not just this country. I can't believe this poll and the many people of Kentucky who are mostly considered the working poor, yet would vote for a candidate who cannot identify with their struggles. Barak Obama is a man of the people! History will be made on November 4, 2008 and there will be a change for the better in all of our lives!!!

Posted by: DR Location: Winchester on Oct 24, 2008 at 11:07 AM
I'm glad that McCain is ahead. What exactly do people expect an unexperienced Democrat to do for them? I'm sick of everyone saying it will be just like Bush should McCain get elected. They are two different individuals. People need to get real and quit voting for what that think is hip or cool and start thinking about reality. I'm interested to see how you all will feel if Obama gets elected and your taxes go sky high to pay for all the deadbeats he wants to give a hand out to.

Posted by: Carey Location: Kentucky on Oct 24, 2008 at 10:32 AM
Of the 600 people polled, how many were white and how many were black? How many were men and how many were women? You aren't offering much substance as to how the poll was conducted other than 600 people were polled. Break the poll down so that we can see how it was done realistically.

Posted by: Laura Location: Lexington on Oct 24, 2008 at 09:57 AM
That poll is bogus. If you want an accurate result you must ask all the people, not just a select few.

Posted by: rob Location: here on Oct 24, 2008 at 09:47 AM
you cant tell a person who to vote for, but if people do vot for McCain i think to world is just going to keep getting in a bad shape

Posted by: Paula Location: Danville on Oct 24, 2008 at 09:15 AM
NZ, Just because we dont want an Anti American Radical Hippy as our Comander and Cheaf does not make us racist and bigoted state. Im so sick of hearing that. get a life. McCain deserves it. So why dont you wake up and stop judgeing people because its our freedom to vote for whoever we want. that doesnt make us racist.

Posted by: Fred Location: Lexington on Oct 24, 2008 at 09:09 AM
racist and bigoted state? just because the majority do not want to vote for obammy? hmmm...

Posted by: Halyn Location: Somerset on Oct 24, 2008 at 09:09 AM
I don't think the people of Kentucky realize how the Republicans have screwed up big time. Obama/Biden!

Posted by: CJ Location: Ashland on Oct 24, 2008 at 08:38 AM
It saddens to me to think that the state in which I reside would elect someone who has contributed to our country's demise 96% of the time over the past eight years by supporting the Bush policies. Anyone who believes that Sarah Palin could manage the duties of the Commander in Chief needs to stop and take a long hard look at what is happening here. She will be led by those who support the Bush doctrine, something she knows nothing about. She knows absolutely nothing about anything! Obama is a family man, a Harvard graduate, a fine example of what America should be about. He is willing to listen to all people. He is willing to work with everyone. He cares about ALL people. A vote for McCain will merely push our country into further crisis. This poll may show McCain winning in Kentucky, but I take great pride in casting my vote for Obama in an effort to recreate the America our forefathers envisioned years ago with ALL men created equal and liberty and justice for ALL!

Posted by: Mich Location: Ozz on Oct 24, 2008 at 08:31 AM
Go Obama! McCain makes no sense, and what really is keeping me from voting for McCain is that his policies don't ADD up, they really do not. Get online and read about what he plans on doing! it's disaster waitig to happen! GO OBAMA!!! He will bring change, especially to these rural areas www.obama.com Read his information and what he plans on doing for the country, those plans DO ADD UP! Besides, if borrowers didn't take on MORE than they can pay, and if lenders didn't GIVE INTO that, then we wouldn't be in this situation. BUT NO!!! They have to be greedy about it. I truly hope that those people in Washington get off of their high horses, and suffer just like every other American family. Actually, THEY should get laid off and be unemployed! I bet the people in Washington's savings would go FAST!

This is so sad, what does McCain offer??????????????

Posted by: Jay Location: Hazard on Oct 24, 2008 at 08:07 AM
When will my state ever come out of the dark ages? Do we really want four more years of bush policy?

Posted by: Kevin Location: Kentucky on Oct 24, 2008 at 07:49 AM
Let the comments begin about stupid, KY rednecks, but let me be the first to point out that those are in Pennsylvania. Maybe Kentuckians are voting their conscience and beliefs. Maybe we have more sense than many in the rest of the country; but then again we did vote for Beshear.

Posted by: R Location: Ky on Oct 24, 2008 at 07:12 AM
Count me among the 39%. My neck isn't red and my vote won't be either. This poll in Kentucky doesn't surprise me at all.

Posted by: SRH Location: Lexington on Oct 24, 2008 at 12:42 AM
thats how it should be!

Hear we go again, polls polls polls, polls doesn't mean nothing. Kentucky people I will say what former United States President Ronald Regain said in one of his debates when he was running for president. If you are better off now than you where four years ago. Then vote for John McCain,if not then vote for Obama. Because McCain is a shadow of Mr. Bush. If McCain wins it will be business as usual...same o'l politics. But if Obama wins I feel there will be a change of what we have gotten in the last eight years. Hopefully the change will be for a better of quality of life for us the American people. So WKYT and The Herald Leader I've got the up most respect for you guys, but I just can't buy the formula used to obtain these polls. It's just not accrite.

wait till voting time he is in the lead else where to you wait let me tell you liberal democrats something we are on our way my friends count on it.And Mitch will win to because you liberals have tried to pull the wool over the Americans eyes not today.

Posted by: Diane Location: Mt.Sterling on Oct 23, 2008 at 07:58 PM
I will be willing to bet that the polls would be about the same in almost every state. I am from Iowa and my family there are all voting for McCain. I have to wonder about polling after the 2004 election polling was so wrong.

Posted by: Amos Location: Lexington on Oct 23, 2008 at 06:39 PM
At least Kentuckians see the empty suit for what he really is...and they say we're stupid?
